Students seek entrepreneurial opportunities at service outsourcing competition in Wuxi
Updated: 2014-09-15
Over 1,000 students from 132 universities and colleges across China fought to get their projects recognized in the finals of the fifth China Students Service Outsourcing Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, which was held in Jiangnan University, Wuxi, Jiangsu province, from Sept 11 to 13.
One face recognition project named Homing to locate lost people. A social app helps people lose weight scientifically, and a study system helps dyslexic children learn language from gestures and interactive games. All these innovations, along with other practical applications, showcased the creativity of college students at the exhibition hall in Jiangnan University on Sept 12.
“We are not satisfied to take innovation and entrepreneurship as our slogan, we want to be practitioners, so we joined the competition without hesitation,” said Zhang Zhuo, the “publicity manager” of the face recognition project.
The students got the idea to develop a platform for lost people with face recognition technology from the increasing news reports of missing children and the inefficiency of existing searches in China, according to Jiang Zheng, a member of the team.
