An international cargo ship carrying 17,800 metric tons of bio-jet fuel departed from Zhangjiagang on Dec 23, marking the first-ever export of bio-jet fuel from the Suzhou region.

Bio-jet fuel is an advanced biomass liquid fuel produced from animal waste and vegetable oils. As the global aviation industry transitions towards low-carbon development, bio-jet fuel is seeing significant development opportunities internationally.

Eco Biochemical Technology (Zhangjiagang) seized this opportunity by conducting intensive research and development, successfully producing high-quality bio-jet fuel that has been recognized by the European market, which is in the increasing demand for sustainable aviation fuel.

"Compared to traditional petrochemical jet fuel, our bio-jet fuel product can reduce carbon emissions by 90 percent over its entire lifecycle, greatly aiding the aviation industry's carbon reduction efforts," explained Jiang Jian, general manager of Eco Biochemical Technology.

The company's bio-jet fuel has a designed annual production capacity of 260,000 tons, which, if fully utilized, is equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 970,000 tons per year, providing a tangible Chinese solution for the global aviation industry's low-carbon transition.
