Over the past five years, Zhangjiagang has worked on enhancing the urban living space by vitalizing small land parcels, such as street corners and areas around old residential communities, resulting in the creation of 43 pocket parks.
These parks span over 190,000 square meters and include 12 children's play areas, 14 sports and fitness zones, eight cultural and science education facilities, 17 rest pavilions, and 12 sets of smart interactive equipment.
Taking Xingxing Garden as an example, this pocket park added smart running tracks, AR tai chi screens, and other amenities after its 2023 upgrade, along with smart guide features for the visually impaired, creating a fully inclusive and shared playground.
Zhangjiagang also plans to build a 7.1-kilometer two-way loop trail to connect all pocket parks, further expanding green spaces and ensuring high-quality green living benefits all residents.
