HC Semitek (Suzhou) Co, a subsidiary of global display leader BOE Technology Group, launched its light-emitting diode (LED) production facility in Zhangjiagang Economic & Technological Development Zone on Nov 27.
With an investment of 2 billion yuan ($282.70 million), the new project targets high-value sectors like automotive and plant lighting, pushing the product structure toward premium upgrades.
It is expected to increase the factory's overall monthly production capacity to nearly 500,000 wafers, a growth of over 70 percent compared to before the expansion, and to boost output value by more than 50 percent, while improving overall production efficiency by 20 percent.
Zhangjiagang has been actively developing its semiconductor industry, strengthening the supply chain and attracting over 40 enterprises above designated size. The region's industrial scale has surpassed 10 billion yuan, positioning it as a competitive hub in the semiconductor sector.
