The 2025 Jiangsu Provincial Green Factory shortlist was recently released, with 10 enterprises from Zhangjiagang making the list. Covering sectors such as high-end equipment manufacturing, textiles, and new energy, the recognition highlights Zhangjiagang's solid progress in promoting green and low-carbon transformation across its industrial system.
A green factory is one that achieves low-carbon energy use, efficient resource utilization, clean production, green products, and intensive land use — forming the core unit of green manufacturing.
In recent years, Zhangjiagang has strengthened its cultivation mechanisms, optimized service systems, and enhanced financial incentives to advance green factory development. The city has built a three-tier cultivation system at the national, provincial, and municipal levels, covering more than 70 key enterprises.
Over 40 companies have received free green diagnostics and tailored solutions, while green manufacturing has been incorporated into industrial support policies, with rewards provided to enterprises recognized at the national and provincial levels. These measures have significantly boosted motivation for green transformation and expanded the scale of the city's green manufacturing system.
To date, Zhangjiagang has cultivated six national-level green factories, 33 provincial-level green factories, 31 Suzhou-level green factories, and one national-level green industrial park.
