A recent conference on the synergy between intellectual property (IP) and standards in the high-performance steel materials sector took place in Zhangjiagang, marking the opening of China's first IP & Standards Synergy Innovation Center dedicated to this industry.
Led by industry leader Jiangsu Shagang Group, the center will serve as a collaborative platform that brings together resources from across the industrial chain to promote deep integration between intellectual property and standards.
At the event, the Strategic Planning Report on the Integration of Intellectual Property and Standards in the High-Performance Steel Materials Industry was also released. The report presents a detailed roadmap for developing the industry at a high quality, covering technological R&D, patent strategies, standards development, and industrial application. It not only outlines Zhangjiagang's plan to enhance IP–standards collaboration and provides replicable examples for the national steel sector.
Experts at the conference shared insights on how standards can drive technological innovation and industrial competitiveness.
Looking ahead, Zhangjiagang will further promote coordinated development between intellectual property and standards, maximize the impact of the innovation center and establish an IP–standards innovation consortium. The city will work on aligning international standard-setting with overseas patent deployment, promoting closer integration of scientific and industrial innovations, and strengthening the global competitiveness of local enterprises.
