Zhangjiagang sees tourism boom during 'Golden Week'

During China's eight-day "Golden Week" holiday, combining National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival, Zhangjiagang hosted 211 cultural, sports, and tourism activities, providing residents and visitors with a diverse selection of holiday experiences. 

The Jiyang Lake Park featured seasonal activities, attracting nearly 120,000 visitors over the holiday period, marking an increase of over 83 percent compared to the previous year. Similarly, the Fenghuang Mountain scenic area launched a series of intangible cultural heritage activities, resulting in a visitor increase of over 50 percent.

The Xiangshan Mountain scenic area's "Xiangshan Golden Autumn Floral Exhibition" drew large crowds, with nearly 40,000 visitors, reflecting a 40 percent year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, the Changyinsha Modern Agricultural Demonstration Park offered a "Golden Autumn Rural Fun Tour", featuring a photography contest, cycling events, harvest art exhibition, rice field music concerts, and more.

In addition, the Shazhou Youhuang Cultural Park hosted a themed market, showcasing performances such as music, acrobatics, and face-changing, alongside various traditional handicrafts. The Suzhou Jiangnan Farming Culture Park delighted visitors with a grand carnival, including a clown carnival and a parade of puppets.

Yongxing village introduced a curated "Zhangjiagang Bay – Ming and Qing Garden–Yimu Jiangtian Coffee Life House–Jiangwan Happy Valley" tour route, offering discount vouchers, meal deals, and package discounts, leading to a nearly 200 percent increase in visitors to rural areas.

During this holiday period, the city reported that 10 key retail enterprises achieved sales of 149 million yuan ($20.88 million), a 14.7 percent increase year-on-year. Additionally, 10 monitored dining and accommodation establishments recorded revenues of 26.94 million yuan, up by 12.5 percent compared to the previous year.
