Tianqi Lithium held the completion ceremony for its 30,000 metric tons per annum (TPA) battery-grade lithium hydroxide project in Zhangjiagang on Sept 25.
With a total investment of about 1.8 billion yuan ($252.43 million), this is the second fully automated plant for producing battery-grade lithium hydroxide (lithium carbonate) that Tianqi Lithium has established in Zhangjiagang.
Tianqi Lithium is a global leader in new energy materials, specializing in lithium as its main area. The company aims to offer sustainable lithium solutions to support the global shift to green, low-carbon energy, covering everything from lithium resource development to product manufacturing. It has five major production facilities around the world, with the Zhangjiagang plant capable of producing 20,000 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate annually. This makes it one of the world's top fully automated production bases for this type of lithium carbonate.
In recent years, Zhangjiagang has focused on expanding emerging sectors like new energy, new energy vehicles, and auto parts, along with boosting the development of power battery raw materials, building Zhangjiagang into the world's largest production base of lithium battery electrolyte, turning its lithium battery industry into a major force supporting the growth of the city's new energy and new energy vehicle sectors.
