With a burgeoning semiconductor ecosystem, the city now hosts 41 major enterprises spanning key sectors such as discrete devices, integrated circuits, optoelectronics, and sensors. This growth has fostered a specialized industrial cluster centered around magnetic sensing, power semiconductors, and light-emitting diode (LED) technology.
A notable player in this development is Suzhou Matrix Optoelectronics Co, the leading company in compound semiconductor magnetic sensing chips in Suzhou. In collaboration with seven other entities, the company has formed the Suzhou Compound Semiconductor Magnetic Sensing Innovation Consortium. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive industry chain from materials to applications, promoting synergy between scientific innovation, investment, and the commercialization of research.
Supporting this industrial expansion, the Zhangjiagang Integrated Circuit Industry Promotion Center and the Zhangjiagang Institute of Compound Semiconductors (ZICS) provide critical technical support and services to semiconductor enterprises. These institutions play a vital role in fostering an innovation-driven development framework by offering research and production assistance.
Over the past six years, the Integrated Circuit Industry Promotion Center has delivered technical services to over 500 companies, with more than 6,000 service engagements. This has helped address industry challenges such as lengthy semiconductor testing cycles and coordination inefficiencies. Additionally, by leveraging platform-based technical services, the center has attracted 18 entrepreneurial teams to establish operations in the city, further bolstering Zhangjiagang's status as a dynamic center for semiconductor innovation.
