Global materials science company Trinseo has signed an agreement to build a sustainable polycarbonate (PC) recycling project in the Zhangjiagang Boned Zone. The project, with a total investment of around $20 million, will have an initial annual capacity of 5,000 metric tons.

Trinseo, one of the first foreign companies to establish operations in the Jiangsu Yangtze River International Chemical Industrial Park, provides innovative and sustainable material solutions for industries including automotive, electronics, healthcare, and construction. Since setting up in Zhangjiagang in 1998, the company has invested nearly $400 million, making the site its largest production base in the Asia-Pacific region.

In recent years, the city has focused on developing functional new materials and high-end fine chemicals, using platforms such as the Jiangsu Yangtze River International Chemical Industrial Park to attract leading domestic and international players. To date, Zhangjiagang has drawn 169 enterprises above designated size and 26 Fortune Global 500 companies, with the city's chemical new materials industry reaching an output value of nearly 80 billion yuan ($11.15 billion).
