The elevated road links the northern section of the East Second Ring in Jinfeng town with the city center, providing a vital corridor between Jinfen town, the Yangtze riverside industrial park, and downtown Zhangjiagang. To the south, it connects with the Su-Yu-Zhang Highway — Zhangjiagang's primary fast-track link to Suzhou — greatly enhancing regional connectivity.
Unlike traditional roads, the elevated expressway features uninterrupted traffic flow without signal lights, allowing for continuous north-south travel and reducing congestion. Vehicles heading north can access the overpass via the Su-Yu-Zhang intersection or the Shazhou East Road ramp and exit at North Second Ring Road. Southbound drivers can enter from the North Second Ring and exit at either Shazhou East Road or the Su-Yu-Zhang junction.
Some sections remain under construction. Ramps on the south side of Shazhou East Road, on both sides of Zhangyang Road, and the East Second Ring–Zhangyang interchange are not yet open but are expected to follow soon.
With the elevated road now operational, traffic volume is expected to rise at the East Second Ring–Su-Yu-Zhang intersection. In response, Zhangjiagang has also opened east-west traffic on Nanyuan East Road, offering an alternative outbound route via East Third Ring Road.
The new infrastructure represents a major step forward in urban mobility, supporting faster commutes, smoother logistics, and enhanced connectivity between Zhangjiagang and Suzhou.
