The Younuan Quilt-Making Workshop and the Shashang Shasu Pastry-Making Workshop in Zhangjiagang have recently been recognized as Suzhou-level intangible cultural heritage (ICH) workshops.
Younuan Quilt-Making Workshop
Situated in Fengzhuang village, Houchen subdistrict, this 20-mu (1.33 hectares) workshop maintains the entire manual quilt-making process—covering cotton planting to final assembly. The site promotes the preservation and active transmission of traditional techniques. It also hosts regular hands-on heritage workshops and agricultural education programs, making these centuries-old skills accessible and engaging.
Shashang Shasu Pastry-Making Workshop
Located in Yongli village, Leyu town, this 2,000-square-meter facility combines production, research and development, sales, and heritage preservation. By partnering with academic institutions and promoting cultural tourism, the workshop regularly offers Shashang Shasu pastry-making classes, supporting the creative revival and innovative growth of traditional crafts.
