Launched in 1983, the Beibei Cup is now China's longest-running and most influential youth football tournament. As the birthplace of the tournament, Zhangjiagang continues to invest in the development of youth football, with 52 nationally recognized football schools and recognition as one of China's first "County-Level Football Development Models". To date, the city has nurtured nearly 100 players who went on to compete in top-tier leagues such as the Chinese Super League.
