As outdoor sports surge in popularity, Zhangjiagang's textile enterprises are using their cutting-edge innovations to capitalize on the thriving outdoor apparel market, capitalizing on the city's robust textile industry cluster and comprehensive supply chain.
At Zhangjiagang Huizhijin Textile Technology Co, high-elasticity, comfort-stretch, and heat-generating fabrics for outdoor sportswear are being produced in bulk, destined for garment factories to create yoga wear, jackets, and other products flooding the markets in Europe and North America.
"Our order book is full through the fourth quarter, with a 30 percent year-on-year increase in volume. Yoga apparel fabric orders alone total around 1,500 metric tons," said Li Ling, the company's general manager.
Li highlighted the firm's commitment to innovation, noting, "We continuously refine raw material selection, optimize fabric structures, upgrade dyeing and finishing processes, and develop new samples, with R&D accounting for about 15 percent of our annual investment." This focus has propelled Huizhijin's transformation from a trading company to a production powerhouse and now a technology-driven leader, steadily increasing the value of its products.
Huizhijin has secured its place as a designated fabric supplier for global sportswear brands like Abercrombie & Fitch, Eddie Bauer, and Champion. Over 80 percent of the nylon-spandex sportswear fabrics sold at Costco in the United States are sourced from Huizhijin. The company has demonstrated remarkable performance, achieving 20 to 30 percent annual growth rate in sales and output, signaling strong market potential.
Huizhijin is just one of many success stories in Zhangjiagang, where a robust ecosystem of over 3,100 textile enterprises forms a complete industrial chain, providing a fertile ground for technological breakthroughs.
