Zhangjiagang is expanding its public fitness landscape with innovative and trendy sports venues opening across the city. These vibrant new facilities reflect the city's continued commitment to enhancing quality of life through accessible, modern fitness experiences.
Yuhui Inflatable Badminton Hall
Beneath a soaring 13-meter-high domed roof, nine standard badminton courts are arranged in a 1,500-square-meter space. A smart air circulation system keeps the temperature at a comfortable 26 °C. Built using inflatable support technology, the main structure was erected in just half a day. "The double-membrane structure enhances both safety and insulation, and the eco-friendly construction process achieved zero pollution and zero emissions," said venue manager Hou Jiaqi.
Dopamine-Themed Basketball and Tennis Courts
Since opening on May 8, this tech-savvy sports space has drawn nearly 4,000 visitors. The surface features green, blue, and pink colors that create areas for basketball and tennis. Enclosed by a full panoramic fence, the rooftop court offers sweeping views of the city skyline and twinkling lights at night.
Operating daily from 9 am to 10 pm, the venue is bookable through the "Zhangjiagang WenShangLyu" mini-program on WeChat. Since May 1, it has welcomed over 1,300 fitness enthusiasts, thanks to its unique design and user-friendly operation model.
Qudong Campground
Hidden under a bridge at Huangsipu Eco Park, Qudong Campground features a squash court, football field, and basketball court, offering a rich mix of fitness and leisure in an unconventional space.
China Tennis Academy Zhangjiagang Campus
As the first official branch of the China Tennis Academy, this facility boasts eight outdoor and four indoor tennis courts, a competition center, fitness training room, cafe, and dining area. With professional coaches and full amenities, it is becoming a top destination for tennis lovers.
Zhangjiagang Shooting Range
Located within the city's Sports School, this 1,200-square-meter shooting range includes 32 firing lanes, an ammunition vault, security systems, athlete support rooms, and even a mental wellness space—delivering a safe, professional environment for training.
Pocket parks
In addition to these major venues, Zhangjiagang continues to make fitness accessible to all. "Pocket parks" citywide are equipped with fitness machines; smart walking trails in public parks are being upgraded; and 24-hour gyms are becoming common. By utilizing corners throughout the city, Zhangjiagang has formed a "10-minute fitness circle", making it easier for residents to embrace a healthy lifestyle outside their doors.
