Zhangjiagang has once again cemented its reputation as a leading example of urban civility, earning the prestigious "National Civilized City" designation for an unprecedented seventh consecutive term. This remarkable achievement makes it the only county-level city in China to hold this honor consistently for seven successive cycles.
The recent commendation extends beyond the city proper, highlighting a widespread commitment to civility and progress throughout Zhangjiagang. Fenghuang town was recognized as a National Civilized Town. In contrast, several villages – Changshan village in Jingang subdistrict, Shanggang village in Yangshe town, Jincun village in Tangqiao town, and Jianshe village in Jinfeng town – were all named National Civilized Villages.
From pioneering the concept of a National Civilized City to becoming the first county-level city to claim the title, Zhangjiagang has advanced its commitment to spiritual and cultural development. Today, the city boasts an impressive array of national recognitions, including honors for civilized towns, villages, units, campuses, and families. It solidifies its reputation as a beacon of progress and community excellence.
