Zhangjiagang launched its first round of 9-valent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccinations for men on May 13, marking a significant step forward in male HPV prevention and public health awareness.

While HPV infections are often associated with women's health, male infections have long been overlooked, leading to a lack of awareness about the potential health risks they pose.

Compared to the quadrivalent HPV vaccine, the 9-valent version offers broader protection, covering more HPV strains and helping to prevent anal cancer, genital warts, and related precancerous conditions, explained Zhu Jingjing, deputy director of the Vaccination Clinic at Dongcheng Community Health Service Center.

The vaccine is currently available for males aged 16 to 26. Interested individuals may schedule an appointment through the "Jiangsu Yufang Jiezhong" app or the "Yu Miao Tong" WeChat public account (search for "gh_626d189179eb" on WeChat). Additionally, inquiries can be directed to the nearest community health service center or hospital for further assistance.
