Zhangjiagang hosted the High-End Textile Industry High-Quality Development Conference on March 31, unveiling a plan to build a 100-billion-yuan ($13.77 billion) textile industry cluster.

During the event, the Three-Year Action Plan (2025-2027) for High-End Textile Industry Development was unveiled, setting the goal of reaching 1 trillion yuan in total industry output by 2027. The strategy focuses on six key segments, each targeting an output value of 10 billion yuan: wool textiles, core-spun cotton yarn, printed cotton fabrics, synthetic fibers, specialty yarns, and knitted garments.

To drive intelligent transformation, digital upgrades, cluster growth, and vertical industrial integration, 20 high-end textile projects with a total investment of 7.1 billion yuan were launched during the conference.

Textiles have long been a pillar industry in Zhangjiagang. Zhangjiagang is home to over 3,100 textile companies, including 380 enterprises above designated size, covering wool spinning, cotton spinning, knitting, synthetic fibers, garment manufacturing, and dyeing. The city's wool textile sector accounts for over one-sixth of the national revenue, and its annual wool transaction volume makes up more than 60 percent of China's total, reinforcing its strong industrial agglomeration and market influence.
