The Patent Protection Association of China (PPAC) recently released the 2024 list of patent intensive products, with 13 products from 11 Zhangjiagang-based companies successfully selected, highlighting Zhangjiagang's strong capacity in patent commercialization and product innovation.

Patent intensive products are those that gain market competitiveness primarily through patented technologies. Over the past year, Zhangjiagang has improved the entire chain of intellectual property (IP) creation, utilization, protection, management, and services. In 2024, the city obtained 3,478 newly authorized invention patents, a 45.8 percent year-on-year increase, with total valid invention patents exceeding 15,000.

Zhangjiagang has also been selected as one of the first pilot counties for national administrative adjudication of patent infringement disputes, helping 12 companies address trademark and overseas issues. Furthermore, IP service stations have been established in five districts and towns across the city, providing seamless services to innovators.

In 2024, Zhangjiagang's patent and trademark pledge financing exceeded 5 billion yuan ($689.61 million), with the largest single loan reaching 1.5 billion yuan. Notably, 76.4 percent of loans were under 10 million yuan, benefiting 240 enterprises, reflecting a strong focus on inclusive financial support for innovation.
