The history of Tangqiao Steamed Dishes spans five to six thousand years, reflecting the ingenuity and wisdom of its people. Every Chinese New Year, locals meticulously prepare the classic "Eight Dishes", a medley of delicacies that often includes pork skin, pig trotters, chicken, and fish.

The secret to the perfect steamed dish lies in its broth and seasoning. In addition, the upward flow of steam influences heat distribution. For example, egg dumplings and vegetable-based dishes, which require shorter cooking times, are placed on the lower tiers of the steamer. On the other hand, meat dishes are positioned higher, where they can cook longer to achieve optimal tenderness. The dishes, varying from large bowls, small cups, dry steaming, and moist steaming, are tailored to lock in the freshness and essence of the ingredients.

Each family takes part in this communal ritual. As the steam rises, carrying the rich aroma of the food, families gather around, sharing laughter and stories. This warm, fragrant setting epitomizes the essence of Chinese New Year in Tangqiao town—a taste and atmosphere deeply etched in the hearts of its people.
