In recent years, Zhangjiagang has been advancing the construction of its elderly care service system, striving to improve service quality to meet the diverse needs of its elderly population.
As the end of 2023, Zhangjiagang was home to 280,000 residents aged 60 and above. To accommodate them, the city has established 41 elderly care institutions, 264 home-based care service centers, and 49 seniors' canteens, effectively forming a "15-minute elderly care service circle".

The city boasts multiple senior activity centers equipped with various activity rooms, fitness equipment, massage chairs, and other therapeutic devices. For seniors with mobility issues, bathing assistance is also provided.
Furthermore, Zhangjiagang has introduced smart elderly care facilities, intelligent health monitoring systems, and remote medical services, leveraging technology to make the lives of the elderly more secure and convenient.
