Facing challenges like short production cycles and tight delivery schedules, Zhangjiagang Customs has streamlined processes for document review, qualification assessment, and certificate issuance. It has also provided companies with detailed information on international laws, regulations, and food standards, enabling the development of recipes that cater to overseas consumer preferences. Enhanced supervision of production lines has further ensured the quality and safety of exported food products.
A notable success story is that of Fortune Bakery, a beloved local bakery whose green plum pastry has been widely acclaimed by overseas consumers. The pastry offers a subtly sweet and refreshing aftertaste, challenging traditional perceptions of such pastries as dry and greasy.
Despite its success, the product faced hurdles such as raw material restrictions and differing regulatory requirements during export. To address these challenges, Zhangjiagang Customs dispatched food experts to collaborate with the company, ensuring timely product delivery. Fortune Bakery has exported a total of 13,200 boxes of new Chinese-style bakery products to date.
From January to August this year, the value of Zhangjiagang's pastry exports reached $263,400, a 22.8-percent increase compared to the same period last year.
