Tourism and consumption surge in Zhangjiagang during National Day holiday

From Oct 1-7, Zhangjiagang experienced a significant surge in tourism and consumption, underscoring the vibrancy of its consumer market and the strong appeal of its local cultural and tourism offerings.

During the holiday week, the city's 20 major retail and dining establishments reported total sales revenue of 146 million yuan ($20.63 million), and the city welcomed 1.09 million tourists, marking a year-on-year increase of 36.49 percent. Additionally, Zhangjiagang Station handled over 140,000 passengers during the period.

Cultural consumption was notably strong, with the city's box office revenue surpassing 4.1 million yuan and attracting over 100,000 moviegoers during the holiday. Zhangjiagang also hosted nearly 200 cultural and sports events citywide, providing residents with cultural experiences right at their doorstep. Artists performed in commercial areas and scenic spots, delivering a series of refreshing audio-visual experiences.
