The groundbreaking ceremony for Quaker Houghton's 600-million-yuan ($82.75-million) advanced industrial process fluids project took place in the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone on July 10.

Quaker Houghton is a leader in the field of metal coatings and provides high-end chemical products to industries including steel, aluminum, automotive, aerospace, marine, and mining. The US company also offers chemical management services to clients worldwide.

The new project is expected to produce 60,000 metric tons of metal coatings annually. It will enhance the company's ability to keep up with strong business growth in China and the Asia-Pacific region, while also injecting strong momentum into Zhangjiagang's advanced polymer materials industry.

Jeffrey Fleck, senior vice-president and chief supply chain officer of Quaker Houghton, said that this new project represents the largest investment the company has made in China to date. He praised the strong support and pragmatic policies of the Zhangjiagang government and expressed confidence that, with China's ongoing advancements in innovation and economic growth, continued collaboration between the company and Zhangjiagang will lead to greater achievements for both parties.
