On July 27, Chinese athlete Sheng Lihao from Zhangjiagang won the first gold medal of the Paris Olympics in the 10m air rifle mixed team event along with his fellow teen shooter Huang Yuting.

The duo defeated the South Korean team by scoring 16-12 in the final, winning China's first gold medal at the Paris Olympics and the first gold of the Games.
Born in Zhangjiagang in 2004, Sheng joined the shooting club at his primary school and was later recommended to the shooting team of Suzhou Sports School. He successively joined the provincial team in 2018 and the national team in 2019. Three years ago, Sheng became the youngest shooter to win an Olympic medal in Tokyo.
