On July 24, a signing ceremony was held for the strategic cooperation between the Yangtze Metallurgical Industrial Park (YMIP) in Zhangjiagang and the Materials Academy of Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI).

The YMIP will serve as a platform for major industrial projects of the Materials Academy and will be deeply involved in research and applications in the fields of nuclear power, aerospace, deep-sea exploration, and hydrogen energy.
An agreement for a production base for intelligent heavy equipment and specialty metals was also signed at the ceremony. With a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan ($206.80 million), it is expected to produce the first set of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)-controlled intelligent production lines in China, generating an annual output value of 2.8 billion yuan.
Han Wei, Party secretary of Zhangjiagang, expressed in his address a hope that the Materials Academy will bring more advanced technology and high-quality projects to Zhangjiagang. He also asked the YMIP to give full support to the projects.
Sun Mingyue, vice-president of the Materials Academy, JITRI said that the institution will provide high-level technological support for Zhangjiagang, promoting the deep integration of innovation and industry.
