During this year's May Day holiday, Zhangjiagang launched a series of shopping activities and major commercial complexes introduced a variety of creative themed events to stimulate consumption.
Throughout the five-day holiday period, 22 key retail and catering businesses collectively generated sales of 99.03 million yuan ($13.68 million). Citywide cinemas welcomed a total of 67,890 moviegoers, with box office revenue reaching 2.62 million yuan. Among the 12 hotels included in available statistics, the average room occupancy rate was 58.42 percent, generating a total operating revenue of 13.12 million yuan.
Over 140 cultural and tourism activities were organized, attracting 612,600 visitors. Events at the Shazhou Youhuang Cultural Park included dragon and lion dances, acrobatics performances, Sichuan opera face-changing, traditional costume parades, Chinese folk dances, and live band performances.
