The Yangtze River, a movie directed by Ryo Takeuchi, recently hit theaters across Japan and will be released in China later this year.

The movie showcases the majestic natural landscapes of the Yangtze River and documents the economic and social development along its banks over the past decade. It was produced jointly by Zhangjiagang Jingnonglian Cultural Development Partnership, Jiangsu Film Group, among others, and Zhao Jianjun, Party secretary of Nonglian village in Yangshe town, Zhangjiagang, is one of the producers.

Zhangjiagang boasts an 80.4-kilometer Yangtze River coastline, which is partly why local enterprises invested in the film.

In recent years, Zhangjiagang has been placing great emphasis on environmental protection. The city has created 1.4 million square meters of riverside landscape belts since 2019 and forested 13.47 hectares along the Yangtze River in 2023. Zhangjiagang has also hosted the Yangtze River Culture Festival for 20 consecutive years, attracting over 500 million participants through various activities including performances, intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, forums, and literary creations.
