The Zhangjiagang government has been encouraging local enterprises to create intellectual properties to support industrial transformation and upgrading.

In 2023, five major industries in the county-level city in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, including advanced materials, intelligent high-end equipment, semiconductors, biomedicine and high-end medical devices, and the digital economy collectively submitted 3,475 invention patent applications, 1,826 of which were authorized, a growth of over 20 percent compared to the previous year.

The new energy industry accounted for a significant portion of these figures, with 704 invention patent applications and 356 authorized invention patents, representing year-on-year increases of 66.9 percent and 43.6 percent, respectively.

Suzhou Times Huajing New Energy Co Ltd has secured intellectual property rights for several of its technologies, safeguarding the company's innovations and paving the way for projected annual sales revenue of 2 to 3 billion yuan ($277.8 to 416.7 million).

Despite being established only two years ago, the company has already acquired 21 invention patents, 14 utility model patents, and one design patent. Additionally, over 30 patent applications are currently being processed, positioning the company at the forefront of the electrochemical energy storage industry.
