The Taiyuan New Energy Vehicle Lightweight Parts Base, with a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan ($208.4 million), is located in the Zhangjiagang Hi-Tech Development Zone. Currently, the first phase of the project has been put into operation, while construction of the second phase is progressing rapidly and expected to be completed by June next year.
Each punching machine in the Taiyuan base can now produce 30 parts per minute. The company is expecting orders worth 319 million yuan this year and is undergoing upgrades to double production capacity.
Once fully operational, the base is projected to produce 30 million lightweight parts for NEVs and 5 million battery packs annually, with annual sales of 1.2 billion yuan. This development is also expected to create 600 jobs.
By the end of 2024, the entire production process in the base will be 40 percent automated. By 2026, the rate of automation will reach 100 percent and the base will become a "lighthouse factory", with 1.5 billion yuan in annual output.
Lighthouse factories are the world's most advanced factories, as recognized by the World Economic Forum. These facilities are leading the way globally in the adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies.
