As the Year of the Dragon approaches, the Zhangjiagang municipal bureau of culture, sports, radio, television, and tourism has launched a series of activities, inviting people to immerse themselves in the city's intangible cultural heritage and experience the traditional festive atmosphere.
For example, local cultural heritage inheritors will guide participants through hands-on experiences of intangible cultural skills such as paper cutting, bamboo weaving, stone rubbing, traditional New Year painting and the art of stone locks.
Various districts, sub-districts and towns in Zhangjiagang will host vibrant folk performances, including storytelling and dragon dances, enlivening the traditional celebrations.
Multiple cultural markets will also offer a diverse selection of traditional New Year goods, making holiday shopping easier, and there will be multiple exhibitions showcasing intangible cultural heritage items.
In addition, people can partake in activities such as writing Spring Festival couplets and crafting blessing characters. Calligraphy experts will also be on-site to share their skills.
