According to statistics, in 2023, the Zhangjiagang Port in Jiangsu province welcomed a total of 6,078 international vessels, marking a 5.54 percent year-on-year increase, while its foreign trade cargo handling volume reached 61.14 million tons, a 5.5 percent growth compared to the previous year.

The increase in port activity is partly due to the efforts of the Zhangjiagang maritime safety bureau in improving the port's business environment. The bureau has implemented 34 new measures and offered self-service options 24 hours a day to significantly reduce vessel clearance time. It has also deepened coordination with relevant departments to guide ships through the port safely and efficiently.
Substantial measures have also been taken by the bureau to address specific issues like shortage of anchorage and shipment of new energy vehicles.
