The first Yangtze River Delta (Zhangjiagang) Biosafety Development Conference was held on Dec 20 in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province.
During the conference, the Zhangjiagang Yangtze River Delta Biosafety Research Center was honored as a new research and development institution in Suzhou and received accreditation as an authoritative testing institution by the China Metrology Accreditation (CMA). The center is poised to leverage its laboratories, bioaerosol simulation chambers, and microbial resources to conduct research and development on biosafety-related equipment.
Li Jinghong, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the Zhangjiagang research center is also a place to accommodate new biosafety projects. He expressed hope that the center would bring together diverse scientific research forces to address public health needs.
Han Wei, Party secretary of Zhangjiagang, said in his address that the Zhangjiagang High-tech Industrial Development Zone should accelerate the aggregation of more innovative resources to transform the research center into a service platform supporting technological innovation and industrial development.
In recent years, Zhangjiagang has been committed to constructing a platform connecting the upstream and downstream of the biosafety industrial chain. The city has been focusing on developing biopharmaceutical and high-end medical device industrial clusters and has attracted many leading enterprises and established several industrial parks.
