Fifteen second-hand vehicles embarked on a journey from Zhangjiagang Port to Dubai on Nov 22, marking the first time that used cars have been exported from a port in the county-level city in Suzhou, Jiangsu province.
All fifteen vehicles were supplied by Zhangjiagang Wanchunxin Import and Export Co Ltd, which was one of the three Zhangjiagang enterprises that obtained the qualifications to export used cars in June. Wanchunxin focuses on the sale and export of new energy vehicles as well as the export of pre-owned vehicles.
"We already have a substantial customer base overseas. Considering the strong appeal of Chinese-manufactured vehicles, which are known for their quality and cost-effectiveness, we chose to venture into the used car export business," said Guo Lei, general manager of the overseas business division at Wanchunxin, expressing optimism about the prospects of the used car export market.
Zhangjiagang Customs has played a pivotal role in facilitating this achievement. "We had collected relevant laws and regulations concerning exports to the United Arab Emirates, customized inspection and clearance plans, and guided companies through the necessary procedures in accordance with policies. This ensured a smooth departure for the first shipment of used cars," said Ma Jianfeng, a customs official.
To date, Zhangjiagang has exported a total of 362 used cars worth $7.64 million, destined for countries including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Zhangjiagang is expected to export 700 to 800 used cars by the end of this year.
