Seven intangible cultural heritage items from Zhangjiagang gain provincial recognition

Seven intangible cultural heritage items from Zhangjiagan, a county-level city in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, have been selected for inclusion on the provincial-level list. These items span traditional dance, craftsmanship, folk literature, traditional music, traditional medicine, and traditional sports, showcasing the region's rich cultural diversity.

1. Mobi Dance

Originating in areas along the Yangtze River, Mobi Dance has a history of over four centuries, evolving from the festive processions of temple fairs.

2. Cotton fluffing technique

This handicraft technique produces breathable, soft, and comfortable cotton, offering both warmth and durability.

3. Legend of Shi Nai'an

This legend involves the place names, landscapes, and customs of the Heyang Mountain area in Zhangjiagang, providing valuable insight into the social conditions and customs of the late Yuan (1271-1368) and early Ming (1368-1644) dynasties.

4. Guqin

With a history spanning nearly a century, Guqin art has been nurtured and passed down through generations in Zhangjiagang.

5. Chrysanthemum wine making technique

As a traditional beverage locally produced and consumed in the Heyang Mountain area of Zhangjiagang, Chrysanthemum wine remains a festive delight, crafted from locally sourced glutinous rice and wild chrysanthemum flowers.

6. Gu's Therapy
