Zhangjiagang athletes make historic achievements at Hangzhou Asian Games

The 19th Hangzhou Asian Games have drawn to a close. It's a moment of pride for Zhangjiagang, as its athletes have made history with an impressive medal haul. Three athletes from the county-level city in Suzhou collectively secured three gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, marking a significant milestone for Zhangjiagang at the Asian Games.

On Sept 25, Sheng Lihao clinched a gold medal in the men's 10-meter air rifle individual final. This not only marked the first gold for Suzhou at the Hangzhou Asian Games but also set a new world record for Team China. On the same day in the men's 10-meter air rifle team event, Sheng also helped secure a bronze medal.

On Sept 26 in the mixed team event of the men's and women's 10-meter air rifle, Sheng once again claimed the top spot.

On Oct 3, Yuan Qiqi and her three teammates won a gold medal in the women's 4x100-meter relay final. Yuan, as the third leg runner, exhibited outstanding speed.

Additionally, on Sept 26, in the men's volleyball final, Yu Yuantai made an essential contribution to the Chinese volleyball team's silver medal finish. This marked a return to the Asian Games podium for the team after 17 years.

The performances of these talented Zhangjiagang athletes have not only brought glory to their city but have also left an indelible mark on the Hangzhou Asian Games.
