Jiangsu Railteco Equipment Co Ltd in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, Jiangsu province recently started transporting the trains it manufactured for the Ministry of Railways of Bangladesh.
The company, located in the Zhangjiagang Economic and Technological Development Zone, specializes in producing rail transportation equipment. It received the 280-million-yuan ($39.67 million) order from Bangladesh, which involves making 125 trains of 12 types, in the second half of 2022.
The trains will serve a variety of purposes, including passenger, freight and cold chain transport. To ensure seamless product delivery, Railteco sent technical personnel to Bangladesh a number of times to thoroughly understand the client's needs. As a result, the Bangladeshi railway ministry gave high praise to the quality and performance of the final products.
Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, director of the train project from the Bangladesh Ministry of Railways, said the trains will improve the country's transportation efficiency for agricultural products and accelerate the growth of its rural economy.
Given the substantial demand for railway equipment in countries along the Belt and Road, such as Bangladesh, due to its high capacity and low energy consumption, Railteco, already operating in over 60 countries, is actively seeking partnerships with BRI-related nations like Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Turkey.
