The Zhangjiagang Museum in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, has organized a variety of activities to celebrate International Museum Day, which falls on May 18.
The museum is hosting several online and physical exhibitions to showcase the city's history, culture, folk customs, and archaeological findings. Some of the exhibitions will be held in communities and schools in Zhangjiagang.
Meanwhile, the museum has launched a project called the "Third Exhibition Hall", aiming to exhibit artworks created or collected by Zhangjiagang residents. The first event of the series, held from May 18 to July 18, will feature paintings of Huangsipu, a historical site from the Tang and Song dynasties (618-1279), by local children.
The museum has also offered cultural classes on Huangsipu and Chinese porcelain, as well as hands-on activities where participants learn to design patterns engraved on ancient Chinese bronze mirrors.
