The first phase of Deji High-end Textile Industrial Park, located in Deji sub-district, Zhangjiagang, includes 10 four-story factory buildings, where the first group of seven core-spun yarn enterprises are installing their equipment.
According to Zhou Huaping, chairman of the Zhangjiagang Core-Spun Yarn Industry Association, the first phase is expected to commence production in November this year, and the entire industrial park is expected to achieve an annual output value of 7 billion yuan ($995.9 million) after being put into operation.
Construction on the 30-hectare industrial park started in 2021 and will cost 2 billion yuan.
"The association will draft industry standards and establish admission criteria to help enterprises upgrade equipment and increase investment in research and development," said Li Yajun, vice-chairman of the Zhangjiagang Core-Spun Yarn Industry Association.
The industrial park will also build shared warehouses and a shared testing center and introduce third-party technology service providers to further reduce the production and R&D costs for enterprises and enhance their risk resistance ability, Li added.
Deji has been promoting the intelligent and green transformation of local core-spun yarn companies. Currently, over 58.4 percent of the yarn produced in the sub-district is made from environmentally-friendly and recycled materials, and the annual production of recycled core-spun yarn is nearly 400,000 metric tons, reducing carbon emissions by 1.27 million tons.

Deji has gathered over 240 core-spun yarn enterprises with an annual production capacity of nearly 700,000 tons, accounting for over one-third of the domestic market share. In 2022, the industry achieved an output value exceeding 15 billion yuan.
