Automated robots are becoming increasingly common in various industries in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province.

For example, Jingcheng Gongke Automotive Parts (Zhangjiagang) Co Ltd has since 2021 been using welding robots that take only 200 seconds to complete the same task that would have taken a human worker 500 seconds.

Through continuous improvements, the automotive components welded by the robots now have a 100 percent qualification rate. According to Pan Zhiyong, a workshop director at the company, there are currently about 80 welding robots in his workshop that have mastered many welding techniques and taken over 90 percent of tasks.

Similarly, at Zhangjiagang Zhongtian Precision Molding's injection molding workshop, robots are responsible for transferring just molded plastics, which are too hot for a human to handle. The robots can also screen out parts that do not meet requirements.

Lu Zhou, head of the workshop, said that the introduction of robots means that workers can now focus more on product inspection, packaging, and mechanical maintenance instead of performing strenuous, repetitive and dangerous tasks.

The Jiyang Lake Hotel also has two robots that can deliver food and other items. According to Lu Menglin, the hotel's deputy lobby manager, only staff can operate the robots so as to ensure the safety of customers.

These robots have helped hotels reduce costs and improve efficiency, and are expected to upgrade digital services in the hotel industry.
