Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, has been making efforts to promote the innovation-driven development of its four industries – new energy, high-end intelligent equipment, semiconductors, and advanced materials.

Through a series of measures, including attracting projects and talent, Zhangjiagang aims to increase the revenue of four sectors to more than 700 billion yuan ($101.55 billion) by 2025, said Han Wei, Party secretary of the city.

This year alone, Zhangjiagang has introduced several new energy projects, such as a $700-million project invested by Amprius and a 30.6-billion-yuan project by Shenghong Group.

One of the companies that has been proactively pursuing innovation is Zhangjiagang Great Wall Motor Research and Development Co, which is the second R&D center in China of Great Wall Motor, one of China's largest automobile manufacturers.

Established in 2021, the company develops more than 10 new models each year and one of its electric car models – Ora Lightning Cat – was unveiled in October last year.

Li Zhanying, deputy general manager of the company, said they will conduct more technical exchanges with companies related to the new energy vehicles industry in the Yangtze River Delta region and use more cutting-edge technologies to meet the diverse needs of customers.
