The Shuangshan Island along the Yangtze River is located in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province.
The island has many scenic spots such as a wetland park, a lotus pond, and a reed marsh, as well as a number of entertainment facilities like luxury hotels, golf courses, skydiving centers, and local restaurants.
A new luxury hotel representing 100 million yuan ($14.55 million) in investment is currently under construction on the island. It is expected to start operations by the end of this year and will feature natural hot springs.
Four more culture and tourism projects that are related to skydiving and hotels and represent a combined investment of 410 million yuan were also initiated on the island last year.
