A number of major projects in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, are progressing smoothly.
For example, the first phase of Jiangsu Guangda Xinsheng Precision Intelligent Manufacturing Co, which has 2.2 billion yuan ($320 million) in investment, has started operations. The facility is capable of producing more than 80,000 pieces of spare parts used in the military, aerospace, aviation, and nuclear power industries.
Wu Maolin, assistant general manager of the company, said a new workshop of the first phase is expected to begin trial operations in April, and the ongoing second phase will generate 5.5 billion yuan in annual sales after it is completed.
Han's Laser, the world's largest manufacturer of industrial laser equipment, is investing more than 10 billion yuan to build its East China headquarters in the Zhangjiagang Bonded Zone. The 800-mu (53.3-hectare) headquarters will develop, manufacture, and sell five kinds of equipment, including high-powered laser machines and new energy equipment. It is expected to account for 60 to 70 percent of the company's total output and generate over 20 billion yuan in annual sales.
The company's intelligent equipment technology subsidiary in Zhangjiagang has been receiving a spate of orders since the beginning of this year and has sold more than 20 pieces of equipment so far this year, said Xia Xiaochuan, the director of the subsidiary.
The Zhangjiagang-Jingjiang-Rugao Yangtze River Bridge has also seen significant progress. The main body of the bridge is currently being built and is expected to be finished in 2028.
The two-way eight-lane bridge has a designed speed of 100 km per hour.
