Sheng Lihao, an 18-year-old who hails from Zhangjiagang, won three gold medals at the 2023 National Shooting Championships which recently concluded in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province.
The event was the first national rifle and pistol competition this year and the first selection trial of the Chinese national team for international games.
Sheng triumphed in the men's 50-meter rifle three positions event on Feb 5 after beating Zhang Changhong, who won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Summer Games. Sheng then went on to win the men's 10m air rifle event on Feb 6 and the 10m air rifle mixed team event with Yan Jinjing, a rifle shooter from Jiangsu, on Feb 7.
Sheng became the youngest medalist in Olympic shooting events when he won a silver at the men's 10m air rifle event at Tokyo 2020 with a score of 250.9. He also won one gold and two bronze in the 2022 ISSF World Championships for Rifle and Pistol Shooting in Cairo, Egypt, helping Team China gain a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
