Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, held a meeting on Jan 29 for 100 local projects that will commence or be completed in the first quarter of 2023.

The projects are worth a combined 59.72 billion yuan ($8.79 billion). Among them are 22 foreign-invested projects that represent 10.18 billion yuan in investment.

The 100 projects are related to different sectors including infrastructure and innovation incubators. A steel mill of Jiangsu Yonggang Group, which is expected to start production in February 2024, can produce 1.8 million metric tons of steel billets and 1.15 million tons of steel wire annually.

Due to their large investment, high quality, and huge development potential, these projects will help improve Zhangjiagang's industrial structure, said Han Wei, Party secretary of the city.

Huang Aijun, deputy Party secretary of Suzhou, said during the meeting that Zhangjiagang should actively take part in the integrated development of Suzhou, Jiangsu and the Yangtze River Delta region and build itself into a leading area for advanced manufacturing.
