Due to the loosening of travel restrictions, the number of residents in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, who are planning to travel during the upcoming seven-day Spring Festival holiday has surged.
The Zhangjiagang exit-entry administration department has been receiving more than 200 outbound travellers per day on average since Jan 8, when the country adjusted its COVID-19 policies, said Gong Tianyu, an official with the department.
According to Cheng Yan, the manager of Huatai Travel Agency, Macao is one of the most popular destinations outside the Chinese mainland as the endorsement is easy to obtain and there are direct flights from neighboring cities to Macao.
Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand and Singapore, are also many among the most popular destinations in the region, added Cheng.
Popular domestic destinations include Sanya in Hainan, Xishuangbanna in Yunnan, and Harbin in Heilongjiang, said Wu Jinhu who works at Guotai Travel Agency.
