Zhangjiagang in East China's Jiangsu province has been ranked second among China's county-level cities in 2022 in terms of modernization, according to a new report released in Beijing recently.

The report showed that the top 100 county-level cities in the list have an average score of 75.08 out of 100, 2.33 points higher compared with 2021.
Zhangjiagang has made significant progress in its economic and social development this year. For example, all industrial companies above designated size in the city have completed their digital transition, and Zhangjiagang's B2B exports through cross-border e-commerce was ranked first in Suzhou.
Zhangjiagang has also been recognized as a provincial-level hydrogen energy technological innovation center.
In terms of environment protection, the city has the largest percentage of good air quality days in Suzhou.
To improve people's livelihood, 13 schools were renovated or built in Zhangjiagang in 2022, increasing the admission quota by 11,000. In addition, 106 medical service stations where people can pay bills with insurance were established.
