Seventy-seven small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province were recently included in this year's list of high-quality SMEs released by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology.

To date, 126 companies in Zhangjiagang have made the provincial list for their strong innovation capacities and positive business outlook. More than 30 products from these companies have the largest market share in their respective market segments in China.

In August, 13 Zhangjiagang companies made the national high-quality SMEs list, bringing the total number of such enterprises in the city to 21. Among them is Jiangsu Beier Machinery Co, a leading manufacturer of plastic equipment in China. The company's products that can turn plastic waste into useful equipment generate over 100 million yuan ($14.34 million) in sales each year and have a 11 percent market share in China.

Zhangjiagang has been attaching great importance to the development of its SMEs. The city has implemented favorable policies, held training sessions, and provided comprehensive services to aid the companies' growth. From 2018 to 2020, Zhangjiagang spent over 42 million yuan on rewarding its SMEs.
