An innovation base of Jiangsu Excellent Medical Technology Group Co is currently under construction in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province.
Representing an investment of $100 million, the base will have 68,000 square meters of new factories and is expected to start operating in August 2023. More than half of the base has already been completed, said Shan Jifeng, the project manager.
According to Shan, the Zhangjiagang base will be a smart factory equipped with production lines powered by industrial robots and 3D printing technologies. It will produce single-use surgical drapes and products used for sports recovery and minimally invasive intervention. The base is expected to generate over 800 million yuan ($111.73 million) in annual output.
Jiangsu Excellent Medical Technology Group specializes in designing, manufacturing and selling medical consumables and personal care products. The company has six factories around the world and its products have been sold in more than 50 countries and regions.
Biomedicine is one of the major industries in Zhangjiagang. The city's government has been stepping up efforts to attract related projects to support the sector's development in recent years.
