A demonstration base for modern agricultural technology located in the Changyinsha Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park in Zhangjiagang, East China's Jiangsu province, has been producing 6,000 metric tons of fruits and vegetables per year, local media reported.
The demonstration base consists of 40 greenhouses and covers an area of 314,000 square meters.
The yield of tomatoes is usually around 10 kilograms per square meter, but thanks to the use of advanced agricultural technology, the yield at the base can reach up to 30 kg.
Apart from increasing the output of fruits and vegetables, the demonstration base has also set up a supply chain management company and established marketing teams to broaden sales channels.
Today, the demonstration base can generate an annual output value of 36 million yuan ($4.95 million) every year.
